I’m a Christian and believe in tests from God, all He wants from me is to stop smoking, I can go for 24 hrs and be ok, but when things get really stressed for me I light up, i have prayed so hard for this, it is a desire of my heart, but I am in bondage to cigarettes and can’t shake it. i have failed in my walk with God, as i have promised Him i would not smoke anymore, but i blew that today, Why can i not pass a test and show God I love Him more than cig. Because of meds i take i can’t use any of the stop smoking aids, i have to quit cold turkey. Please can all of you that believe in God , go to HIm and ask Him to help me and to please forgive me for breaking a promise, which I will have to face Him one day and hear Him say it is better you were never alive than break a promise to Me.
never mind guys, you dont have to answer this, my husband just did, he explained to me that when it is God’s will and time i will stop, i now feel alot better, all i can is continue in my efforts and stop relying on me and let God do His work within me in His own time, have a great day, rach:)

Many are inquiring, "How am I to make the surrender of myself to God?" You desire to give yourself to Him, but you are weak in moral power, in slavery to doubt, and controlled by the habits of your life of sin. Your promises and resolutions are like ropes of sand. Desires for goodness and holiness are right as far as they go; but if you stop here, they will avail nothing. Many will be lost while hoping and desiring to be Christians. They do not come to the point of yielding the will to God. They do not now choose to be Christians.

Through the right exercise of the will, an entire change may be made in your life. By yielding up your will to Christ, you ally yourself with the power that is above all principalities and powers. You will have strength from above to hold you steadfast, and thus through constant surrender to God you will be enabled to live the new life, even the life of faith.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ~ 1 John 1:9

Based on that verse, who forgives you? And who cleanses you of unrighteousness? Not yourself, but God. Therefore the lifelong process of being molded into the character of Jesus, called sanctification is the work of the Holy Spirit working in your life. So it is God’s work, but it is always your choice.

You must stop trying to prove to God that you can gain victory over sin in your power and surrender to His power. It is by believing in His promises of victory and then surrendering our will to His that we gain the victory. Only Jesus can free you from sin.

im 15 smoke about 10-15 a day for about a year i really want to quit but iv got no money for obivous reasons.

You can get nicotine patches on an NHS prescription. You really need to have a chat with your GP because they will be better able to advise you regarding what is on offer via the NHS….counselling and anti-smoking aids, etc.

Quitting is certainly a very wise decision you have made and you certainly won’t regret it and can only benefit by way of that. See your GP asap.

I am seriously thinking about trying it. I have tried to quit before with no luck. For me the other stop – smoking aids will not work because it is more about my mental addiction than physical. Just wondering if anyone else has ever tried this?

I never feel the urge to smoke unless I am around my friends because they constantly are smoking. I’ll wake up every morning after smoking and feel so ashamed, then by the time work is over and I wanna relax with my friends, I find some way to convince myself that it’s okay to have a few smokes. It’s NOT okay. I need to stop.
